Permanent Call for Papers

ArsTeXnica is constantly looking for papers to publish. Did you write a paper on TeX, its related technologies and digital typography world? Why don't you share it with our community?

GuIT is a no-profit association, therefore it doesn't pay its collaborators and volunteers. But it guarantees, thanks to its editorial board, the evaluation of each received paper and its complete revision in case of acceptance for publication.

ArsTeXnica is a half-yearly journal issued in April and October. The April issue contains regular papers while the October one publishes the GuITmeeting proceedings. Our editorial board will evaluate every paper submitted by the following deadlines: February 15 (April issue) and August 31 (October issue).

The journal publishes papers of professors and teachers, professionals, students and enthusiasts. The papers may range from the communication of an original result to the tutorial/use case of a package, from a TeX-related technology explanation to digital typography. We wait for your contribution.

Submit a paper

Papers to be published in ArsTeXnica should be prepared using the ArsTeXnica author's kit. The files will be compressed in a single .zip archive and emailed to arstexnica (at) guitex (dot) org, including the term “ArsTeXnica” in the subject. Your email will specify whether your paper is a regular one or it has been written for the meeting. Papers not prepared according to the previous guidelines might be rejected.

Evaluation process of those papers submitted for publication in ArsTeXnica

We follow the procedure below for each manuscript submitted for publication in ArsTeXnica:

  1. The editor-in-chief, or an editorial-board member designated by the editorial board, sends the manuscript to the Scientific Committee.
  2. The members of the Scientific Committee, according to their skills and knowledge, choose which manuscripts will evaluate. In this way, every manuscript will be evaluated by at least a member of the Scientific Committee.
  3. The evaluation, still single-blinded (author's name is known; not the reviser's name), expresses one out of four results: the paper has been accepted as is; the paper has been accepted with minor revisions; the paper has been accepted with major revisions; the paper has been rejected.
  4. The editor-in-chief will make the final decision based on the received evaluations. It's the editor-in-chief authority to help the author improve the form and content of the paper.
  5. Every rejected manuscript can be submitted for publication in ArsTeXnica again in the future. The same manuscript can be rejected again in case the Scientific Committee judges it not enough improved.
  6. The accepted manuscript will be sent to the author in case it needs corrections, or to the editorial board if it does not need corrections to be typeset and proof-read.
  7. An author can insert the suggested corrections or discuss them with the director. Then he can send back the paper to the editorial board or retire it.
  8. The final version of the typeset paper will be sent to the author to be approved.
  9. The journal is then closed and sent to the printing house.
  10. The entire procedure takes two months for the April (odd) issues and one month for the October (even) issues (proceedings of the GuITmeeting).
